Welcome to our new website and our first press-page posting. To inaugurate our press page, we’ve decided to highlight the official launch of the EcoRich/NYCx Co-Lab Challenge: Zero Waste in Shared Space.
On April 23, 2018, EcoRich, LLC and Mothers on the Move, a community-based organization, were announced as the joint winners of the Zero Waste in Shared Space grant. Each received $20,000 to deploy their proposed solutions to encourage residents of the Brownsville Houses in Brooklyn, NY to become a “zero waste” household over a period of six months.
The project is now ‘live,’ and residents, with the help of Green City Force, are composting their household food waste in the EcoRich Elite II ER-500 aerobic composter. With the ability to turn 500 pounds of food waste into 50 to 75 pounds of organic soil amendment in just 24 hours.
EcoRich founder Manish Desai and representatives from the New York City Housing Authority, the Sanitation Department, and Green City Force lead in this effort. EcoRich is honored to be a part of this important trial, and we will keep you updated on its progress.
In the meantime, anyone wanting to know more about the Brownsville trial, or EcoRich composters, are encouraged to contact our sustainability advisor Charles Nouhan at charles@ecorichenv.com.
